Jorgen Pedersen, President and CEO, founded RE2, Inc. in July of 2001. Jorgen is responsible for the strategic direction of the Company, developing partnerships and alliances, and overseeing the Company’s business development efforts.
Jorgen is actively involved in the Robotics industry and holds several leadership positions to help shape the future of robotics. He was elected the Chair of the NDIA Robotics Division in September 2012 and is a member of the Senior Steering Group for OSD’s Joint Ground Robotics Enterprise. Jorgen also formally aided in the formation of the Robotics Technology Consortium, served on its Technology Advisory Board and Board of Directors. Jorgen is also a leader in the unmanned systems standards community. He served as the Chairman of the Standards Committee under the NDIA Robotics Division and was a member of the JAUS Working Group, SAE AS-4, and NATO STANAG 4586 committees.
Jorgen is an advocate for technology in the Pittsburgh region. He is a member of PowerUp Pittsburgh, a regional consortium of technology leaders that work directly with the Pittsburgh Mayor’s office to accelerate the commercialization of technology innovation activities in order to promote sustainable economic growth in the Pittsburgh region.
Jorgen started his robotics career at Carnegie Mellon’s National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC), where he was responsible for handling multi-million dollar budgets and managing teams of engineers. After leaving the NREC, he joined Servus Robots, LLC as the Director of Robotics Engineering.
Jorgen was presented with the 2008 Army SBIR Achievement Award for the development of the Small Robot Toolkit for unmanned ground vehicles and with the 2011 Tibbetts Award for SBIR Excellence.
Jorgen holds a B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a M.S. degree in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University. He currently holds two patents related to robotics.
