Mark DeLouis, Chief Scientist, joined RE2, Inc. in January 2005 as the company’s Chief Scientist. In this role, Mark plans and oversees the technical design of the company’s most complex unmanned systems hardware research programs. Mark initially joined the company in 2002 as a contract robotics engineer. During his tenure, Mark has provided world-class mechanical and robotics engineering expertise for numerous unmanned air and ground vehicle projects, including DARPA’s PerceptOR program and the Army REF Advanced Robotic Controller program in the early days of the company – to today’s most complicated robotic manipulation hardware programs.
Prior to joining RE2, Mark worked for 15 years as a Principal Robotics Engineer for Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute. Mark has been included on several U.S. patents related to robotics. In addition to his years of engineering experience, Mark is a licensed Federal Aviation Administration Airframe Powerplant Mechanic and is an avid UAV pilot in his free time.
