Allen Bancroft is the Director of Hardware Engineering at RE2, where he oversees the company’s team of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, designers, machinists, and assembly. He also assists with overall system designs.
Allen joined the company in 2017 as a principal project engineer. During his tenure at RE2, he has led the engineering and design of two drop-in robotic system projects, which are in development with the U.S. Air Force.
Prior to joining RE2, Allen served as a senior product manager and a vice president of operations at different robotics companies. A prolific inventor, he has secured 10 patents, with two additional patents pending, and has launched numerous successful businesses.
A native of Bloomfield, Connecticut, Allen earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from DeVry University in New Jersey and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. He also received his Six Sigma Black Belt from Virginia Commonwealth University in Virginia.
Outside of his professional robotics career, he pursues numerous passions: he is a private pilot, entrepreneur, go-kart champion, and a former NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series driver.
Allen is also passionate about promoting STEM activities. He volunteers his time with FIRST Robotics, where he serves as a chief judge advisor and mentors a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team.
