What project(s) are you currently working on, and what do you find interesting or exciting about this project and/or its resulting technology?

LIFELINE: developing equipment that can help our military personnel perform casualty evacuation easier;  ARNA: using robots to perform routine tasks for patients in hospitals can remove a significant burden for nursing staff; and HDMS for UCLA: Building a 772 HDMS system and integrating new sensors will be interesting.

 

What do you enjoy most about working at RE2?

Everyone is committed to the success of the company and believes in the company's future success.

 

If you could switch jobs with anyone else at RE2 for one day, whose job would you want and why?

Reeg Allen, Director of Business Development. I like the Marketing aspect and interacting with potential customers and users.

 

Where did you go to school/receive your training and what was your major?

I have a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State and an MS Electrical Engineering from Stanford.

 

What task(s) would you most like to see a robotic arm perform?

Bomb disposal. Buried IED detection and detonation.

 

What is your favorite robot (real or fictional)?

C3PO

 

What other jobs have you held?

Mine Safety Appliances, Inc., Project Manager in New Product Development; Guitar Store office manager; Systems Engineering support for large Defense Department acquisitions.

 

When you’re not working on robots, how do you enjoy spending your time?

My favorite past times are creating beautiful flower gardens, traveling (both in the US and abroad) and bi-annual trips to Napa/ Sonoma, CA to visit new and favorite wineries!

 

Where do you see robotics going in the next 25 years?

Becoming more ingrained in everyday society such as surgical robots, unmanned military vehicles, self-driving, long-haul trucks.
