Employee Spotlight - Chad
What project(s) are you currently working on, and what do you find interesting or exciting about this project and/or its resulting technology?
I am working on the Underwater Dual Manipulator-Inflatable (UDMI) and Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery – Teleoperated (RADR-T). I find the system development and integration of RE2 developed components and contractor developed components very interesting, because of new challenges to overcome.
What do you enjoy most about working at RE2?
The atmosphere is very relaxed.
Where did you go to school/receive your training and (if applicable) what was your major? Which course was most relevant to your work at RE2?
Penn State - Behrend. Plastics Engineering Technology. The materials courses were probably most relevant. Many polymer materials are being considered for use on the underwater manipulator.
What is your favorite robot (real or fictional)?
The RADR-T robotic applique’.
What other jobs have you held? (Include strange or interesting jobs if applicable!)
Project manager, project engineer, manufacturing engineer, production supervisor, production cell coordinator (closure production), steel construction (college summers).
Where do you see robotics going in the next 25 years?
Being more in our everyday lives, and performing tasks that require more decision-making than we can currently foresee.
When you’re not working on robots, how do you enjoy spending your time?
I enjoy skiing, boating and kayaking.
