Douglas Peters, PE, is the Vice President of Operations
at re and
joined the company in March 2010. In this role, Mr. Peters is responsible for company-wide operations as they pertain to government and defense contracts. He also manages the workflow of RE2’s engineering teams, oversees program management efforts, and serves on the senior management team helping to drive the strategic direction and growth of the business.
Prior to joining re , Mr. Peters spent twelve years at Applied Research Associates (ARA). Most recently, Mr. Peters served as the Division Manager of the New England Division of ARA, a 35 person R&D office. The New England Division focuses on robotics, sensors development, sensor data fusion, nanoscience, and geophysics.
In 2006, Mr. Peters became the Associate Division Manger of a small start-up division in Orlando, FL. In addition to helping administer the new division, Mr. Peters also led a group of engineers and computer scientists focused on enhancing the representation of weapons effects representation for Army live training systems.
In 2002, Mr. Peters led a new ARA program sponsored by DARPA and US Army CECOM in ARA's Eatontown, New Jersey office. ARA’s role in this program was to develop software to optimize sensor usage and to analyze the effectiveness of the command and control software being developed to support the Army’s Future Combat Systems.
Mr. Peters expanded this DARPA effort and started a group within ARA focused on experiment planning, data mining, and analysis of complex virtual and constructive experimental programs. He led this group for three years and established additional work with DARPA on the Multicell and Dismounted Command and Control (M&D C2)
experimental program which is a continuation of the earlier program exploring C2 needs of a future Army force, and Real-time Adversarial Intelligence and Decision-making (RAID) which attempts to predict enemy actions and recommend friendly responses. Mr. Peters joined ARA in 1998 as a software developer.
Mr. Peters graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a BAE degree in Architectural Engineering. Mr. Peters was also a National Science Foundation Fellow at The North Carolina State University, studying structural design and software development. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina and is a trained Facility Security Officer.
